Highest melting temperature material
Tantalum hafnium carbide is a refractory chemical compound with a general formula Tax Hfy-x Cy, which can be considered as a solid solution of tantalum carbide and hafnium carbide. It was originally thought to have the highest melting of any known substance but new research has proven this assumption to be incorrect. Web2 de set. de 2024 · The project is focused on UHTCs, also called high-entropy ceramics, by combining carbon, nitrogen, and boron with refractory metals (Hf, Mo, Nb, Ta, Ti, V, W, and Zr) to produce complex atomic structures that are predicted to be harder and have higher melting temperatures than previously known ceramics.
